Jannette left for camp... again... today. Jannette went on a date today with Xen at TGI Fridays.

June 29

It's been so hot in North Carolina this week. As a result there have been lots of storms. In the midst of this we lost power which is so fun seeing as the air conditioning needs power to run. Also, in the middle of cooking dinner is when the power decided to go out. So as ribs and jalapeno's sat in the oven to finish cooking (hopefully) Jannette went back to packing.

June 28

This morning Jannette woke up to a phone call from Jennifer using someone else's phone. She had locked her phone, purse and keys inside of a house that she is house sitting. So Jannette tried to come to the rescue. They tried everything that they could think of about "breaking in" a house. Needless to say they do not have a future in burglary.

June 27

With the rude neighbors above us and their watering habits the plants on the porch had to be rotated. While Jannette was moving the watermelon onto the porch to give the herbs a watering rest she noticed that there is a flower that has popped up recently on the watermelon vine. Very exciting!!

June 26

Yesterday Jannette decided to go soak up some sun while Jennifer napped after a night shift. Jannette know she couldn't be out long so she only stayed out for a little less than 1.5 hours. This is what her back looked like while Jennifer put some lotion on it before she headed to bed.

June 25

While Jannette is home for the week Jennifer wanted her to have some non-camp food. Today they went out for sushi followed by frozen yogurt. It was a very tasty outing!

June 24

The watermelon plant on the back porch of Jennifer and Jannette's apartment may be growing by the day. It has gotten so long. It may need to be transplanted soon to a bigger pot.

June 23

While at Publix yesterday, Jannette picked up a few peaches because they looked good. It turns out- they were. They were so good! Very juicy! It may finally be peach season.

June 22

Today Jannette came home from camp. Jannette also wanted to surprise Jennifer with some things so she stopped by a Publix to pick up a few things. But because the closest Publix is in South Carolina a quick detour was in order. It was also weird that Jannette was traveling through different states without Jennifer.

June 21

Over the last couple of weeks it has started to warm up out in Hendersonville. But it rained today and it helped keep the temperatures down alittle. Jannette's room has a wonderful balcony and it allowed her to get a good picture of the rain. It would have been good napping weather if she wasn't constantly called down to the lobby to look at somebody's something.

June 20

During some very unusual down time Jannette was able to walk around Camp Kanuga with Nurse Patti. While walking around Jannette was able to start a string bracelet. It's a very basic one but it turned out fairly well seeing as it was a first attempt.

June 19

While at the conference center for the week Jannette's set up is in the lobby. This is what happens when you leave a marker lying around with middle schoolers.

June 18

To help with Jannette's OCD and organizational needs she came up with her own med chart to make sure that all the kids got their meds. It doesn't look too bad until you put 2 additional ones that are very similar next to it it then gets a tad busy.

June 17

This starts week #3 for Nurse Jannette. This time it will be spent at the conference center. The staff has even put her up in a room at the conference center. It's nicely located between the section of the hall of middle school boys and girls. It's not the most up-to-date room but it was a nice change of pace.

June 16

Today Jennifer attempted to make popsicles made from bananas, coconut milk and cocoa powder.

June 15

The up-stairs neighbors seem to think that no one lives below them. So when they water the things on their porch Jennifer and Jannette's porch gets absoutely drenched, along with the plants.

June 14

Thursdays at Camp Bob the staff is required to wear this orange shirt. Jannette thought it was pretty cute so she took one extra. Don't tell.

June 13

This week Jannette is the nurse for Camp Bob- it serves low SES kids from the Southwest region. The kids get bused in so they can have a camp experience. This is in the med cabinet. This is what Jannette has to deal with while over at camp Bob. Some times there are no words.

June 12

Megan and E had a sleepover at the apartment last night. It was a nice change from the empty 2nd bedroom that currently exists. He was up at 6 am and by 7:25am, was ready to play and be little godzilla like the night before. There was slight destruction in a very untoddler-proofed apartment:

 (Can't you just see the cogs turning... "Aunt Jenn's over there -- so if I open the drawer they told me not to open a thousand times, she'll have pictures to prove I wasn't listening & I'll go to time out. I'll just wait - I can be patient.")

E took a liking to the office supplies/crafts bin while visiting. His favorite items were the foam brushes in the bottom right of the picture. By this point though, he had discovered the acrylic crochet hooks and was trying to eat them.

Luckily for Jennifer and Megan, E still takes morning naps and today it was Aunt Jenn's job to get him to take one so Megan could shower and get ready in peace after lots of playing. After cuddles and kissing on das George, E sacked out with the monkey and Jennifer got her arm free to take a picture.  Love. This. Kid.

June 11

Megan and E have come for a overnight visit!!! E decided to test out the pseudo-toddler proofed apartment and figure out what he liked before everyone ventured out to play... Aunt Jenn's bed had a great view of the ceiling fan and definitely looks pretty comfy!!!

June 10

Jennifer and Jannette both made New Year's resolutions to read a book a month for the year - so far, both have kept up averaging a book a month. Jennifer was taking inventory to see if she needed to buy any more books to get her through the rest of the year. This doesn't take into account books Jannette owns or books that are on the hallway shelf - she found this stack, just in her room:

She started Chasing Harry Winston a while back but has decided to read it again from start to finish since it's been a while. The others need to be read so she's set for the rest of the year - yay for reading!!!

June 9

Jennifer has been basically converted to country music much to Jannette and Jorden's satisfaction. Not entirely - but enough to where she prefers to listen to country about 50-75% of the time. Her newest favorite song will be on Kenny Chesney's new album that drops later this month. She can't get enough of the song and lets it play on repeat since Jannette's not around to tell her to knock it off!

When Jennifer finally got to see the video for her other new favorite song Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye she noticed something odd. His teeth look vampire-ish, or so Jennifer thinks. He's (read: his teeth) kinda creepy ...

June 8

It's watermelon season!!!!!!!!! The girls have managed to get 3 whole watermelons that have been great - so open season is being declared! Today #3 was purchased and cut into using tips found on Pinterest. Jennifer started out by cutting the watermelon ends flat. Then she cut down the sides to remove the rind which is when this picture was taken. It's a solid watermelon oval! Then she was able to make flat circles and cut the pieces fairly evenly instead of in some haphazard method. Turned out great! Yum!

June 7

Today at camp, Jannette helped send all the campers out on an overnight cookout/ campout. She thought that meant that she would have the night off. That was until she ended up here with a camper after he was given a dose from an epi-pen. Jannette also learned that she could never work in a small community hospital.

June 6

The gardening on the back porch is still going OK... there's still green plants despite Jannette being gone. Today, when Jennifer went outside to water the plants she found this little guy on the ledge of the pot where the watermelon is trying to grow - he's kinda cute. From afar. The zoom was most definitely used.

June 5

Last night, Jennifer was charge nurse at work for the first time! This morning - when all was still well in the world and the kiddos were safely tucked in - the sun came up and the sunrise over Chapel Hill was beautiful! It really doesn't do the sky line justice, but here's a shot from the 7th floor of the NC Children's Hospital overlooking Chapel Hill.

June 4

Jennifer (really, REALLY) likes to make lists and charts. Sometimes just to prove something got done. She takes after her Mom in that respect. Here's her latest workout chart - to her own specifications!

June 3

When left to her own devices in an otherwise empty apartment, Jennifer can get a little - bored, distracted, entertained - by the randomest of things. Tonight's distraction was provided by her own hair... and curling it. Also known as: attempting to using Jannette's bendy curlers. The end result was not spectacular. Let's just leave it at that.

Jannette headed off to camp (Kanuga Conferences) in Hendersonville, NC today - she'll be working for almost 2 months as a camp RN before she starts her 1st big kid job on 7 Children's at North Carolina Children's Hospital in Chapel Hill. Her bed looked quite lonely today after she left...
