Early in the season but the watermelon has a great start!!

Jennifer and Jannette bought a watermelon a while back and it has been sitting on the counter during the parental visit taunting Jennifer. Today, when she was trying to get the apartment cleaned up a bit, Jennifer cut into it for work this week. The watermelon flesh was YELLOW!!!!! So, so weird!!! Jennifer tried it, Jannette really couldn't bring herself to eat it. It may get thrown away :(

With the rude neighbors above us and their watering habits the plants on the porch had to be rotated. While Jannette was moving the watermelon onto the porch to give the herbs a watering rest she noticed that there is a flower that has popped up recently on the watermelon vine. Very exciting!!

The watermelon plant on the back porch of Jennifer and Jannette's apartment may be growing by the day. It has gotten so long. It may need to be transplanted soon to a bigger pot.

It's watermelon season!!!!!!!!! The girls have managed to get 3 whole watermelons that have been great - so open season is being declared! Today #3 was purchased and cut into using tips found on Pinterest. Jennifer started out by cutting the watermelon ends flat. Then she cut down the sides to remove the rind which is when this picture was taken. It's a solid watermelon oval! Then she was able to make flat circles and cut the pieces fairly evenly instead of in some haphazard method. Turned out great! Yum!

May 30

Jennifer and Jannette have already gone through the watermelon that they purchased on Saturday so today Jannette cut into the next one. It was just as good as the last! Jannette is now the official watermelon-picker-outer.

May 27

With summer coming on full force, Jennifer and Jannette have been eating their fair share of watermelon. Knowing that watermelon season was a little bit off they had been getting pre-cut stuff. Yesterday they went all out and got a whole watermelon because it was on sale at Wal-Mart. Today it was cut into after a long workout. It turned out to be a decent watermelon. It was juicy and it smelled amazing!

April 13

While doing all of our grocery shopping today both Jennifer and Jannette eyed some watermelon already cut up in the produce section. After checking it out and determining whether or not it might be too early in the season, it was picked up. Good thing it was because it turned out to be very tasty!!!
